Vision and brand style guide; copywriting and design for a trade show display, brochure, postcard and fliers
buderer drug company
The Challenge
(1) Create a brand identity for Buderer Drug Co. that conveys its historic legacy in a modern fashion and (2) Establish a brand that can be rolled out over time across its creative assets.
The Outcome
Buderer Drug Co. gets a polished brand identity with retro brand elements and a phased brand roll-out approach that gives the company the confidence to market without the pressure to rebrand all of its creative assets at once.
Buderer Drug Co. is a specialty pharmacy with a 140+ year legacy in Northern Ohio. The company’s cornerstone is its quality pharmaceutical compounding services, which includes mixing (i.e., compounding) multiple ingredients into one formulation - making medicine that is personalized for patients with unique needs.
Buderer Drug Co. felt ready to update its brand identity but wanted to avoid the pressure of rebranding all of its creative assets at once. The company approached Clarke Creative hoping to modernize its look, yet maintain its historic legacy as a trusted family-owned business. The look needed to blend in with its existing logo and other branded materials, such as its medication labels, which would be updated at a later date.
Clarke Creative started by creating a brand vision board for Buderer Drug Co., which included brand elements and font treatments that had a “scientific” aesthetic but felt approachable and humanistic. The brand vision board helped the Buderer team choose a direction for its branded “visual beat.” The Buderer team selected blue-themed visuals, including retro lines and overlapping hexagon shapes representing molecule binding. Brand photography illustrated clean environments of hands-on pharmaceutical compounding and healthy, happy patients.
Clarke Creative went on to create Buderer Drug Co.’s trade show display and various marketing materials with its new branding and brand positioning. With recommendations made by Clarke Creative, the Buderer team plans to roll out its new branding over time at a comfortable pace.
